Fairy Forest

Fairy Forest

Create with Nature

Picture tiny fairies and other woodland creatures exploring these woods. What kinds of homes, playgrounds, or natural wonders might they fancy? We encourage everyone, young and old, to let their imagination run wild and get their hands into the dirt. Look around for ideas from other creations. Visit the grand fairy house and see if you can spot some elusive woodland sprites. You might even catch a glimpse of deer, squirrels, or birds having a nap or playing nearby.

The legends of fairies includes tales of mischievous small woodland sprites with benevolent nature magic. They are often thought of as protectors of the forest, living in harmony with creatures and the land. They are mysterious, elusive, and playful. They seemed a perfect host to visitors at our garden.

The fairy forest for several years spawned a Fairy Festival at Boxerwood to celebrate nature, imagination, whimsy, and art. However, so many visitors in one weekend took its toll on the paths and areas of the garden. But the fairy forest still remains and is one of the most loved places at Boxerwood. Recently, more flowering trees have been planted around the perimeter to encourage natural beauty and early spring color. There are many ways to connect with the Earth through nature, play, and beauty.

Give it more meat! Natural habitat? Environmental person, reaching the whole person, play... etc We recognize the arts, imagination, and whimsy are all ways we connect with the Earth.
